ARRESTED OVER ALLEDGED FRUAD

After trying to step down on a post which appeared on www.calabarblog.com
the Chairman of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria Cross River State Chapter Mr. Effiom Trombone has been arrested by officers of the Nigerian Police Force State CID Department over alleged Fraud and Misappropriation of funds.

The petition signed on behave of members of the state chapter by Basil Assibong professionally know as King Zeerowbadman, and entrepreneur, entertainer, producer, Video Director, #Drone Pilot, #skater and musician as well brought to notice certain activities happening within the association.

This include amongst others 

FINANCIAL MISAPPROPATION, IMPOSITION, NEGLIGENCE, IMPERSONATION, ILLEGALLY ARANGED ELECTION AND TOTAL DISREGARD FOR THE CONSTITUTION OF THE PERFOMING MUSICIANS EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (PMAN) BY OUR CROSS RIVER STATE EXECUTIVE.

The petition talks about the continuous financial misappropriation by Mr. Effiom Trombone who has been the State Chairman for eight years.

it also hi-lighted the payment of Cross River State Musicians a paltry sum of fifteen thousand naira (N15,000) only for performance during the state 2015 Calabar Carnival Shows as against the usual Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000) we have been collecting previously.

Many artiste that performed where not given their stipends and finances realized from form sales was not remitted to the association account by Mr. Effiom Trombone led administration. And when members questioned his accountability, he dodged and deliberately ignored over three PMAN meetings.

Following Mr. Effiom Trombone’s negligence, the house was forced to invoke Rule 11, Chapter 11 of the PMAN constitution of 1991, which states that “the chapter executive committee shall also be dissolved by a vote of no confidence passed by a simple majority of all members of the chapter”. A transition committee was voted in to handle issues but they where exited by an authorization letter from the national body which reinstated Mr. Effiom Trombone and two other persons as caretaker committee. Enclosed with this letter are copies of PMAN constitution and their letter of appointment but I will also like to state that the letter was delivered to them on the 10^th of February 2016 and terms of reference number 3 of the said letter states “that this appointment shall be for a period of six months from the said date after which an election would be conducted to provide new executives that shall take over the runnings and the affairs of the chapter in consonance with provisions of PMAN constitution” but it is saddening that a committee that aught to stay in office for six months which ought to expire in August have already held a manifesto on Monday 27^th June 2016 and plan to hold an illegal election on Monday 11^th July 2016 at Roland Tarvan Bar #101 Old Ikang Road Calabar.

King Zeerowbadman pleaded that a stop be put to the illegal elections till further notice because;

1.    The caretaker committee bridged number 3 of the terms and conditions of their appointment letter by not waiting till the stipulated time.

2.    Number 3 of the same terms and condition stressed further that they should stay for the stipulated six months after which elections should be conducted. This paragraph proves that an electoral committee ought to be created to oversee elections, but the decision of the caretaker committee to handle the election by themselves is illegal and spite on national directives.

3.    The only thing that allows anyone to stand for or vote in the PMAN elections is the biometric ID CARD which is paid directly to the Central Bank of Nigeria through the national body and the decision of Cross River State Caretaker committee instructing prospective members to pay to the state account is illegal and with a strong motive to embezzle nation funds.

4.    The decision of the said committee not to give some members forms to contest with the excuse that the time of issuing forms has passed is illegal as their tenure has not elapsed and that is a desperate attempt of the caretaker committee to disenfranchise credible members and impose their moles to us as executive members.

5.    The idea to impose the decision that members should write manifesto questions to be handpicked and debunked by the illegal electoral committee instead of asking the questions in person infringes on their fundamental human rights as inspirited in the Nigerian constitution that gives them liberty of speech and association.

He also begged that an embargo be placed on this illegally planned elections until the obvious pending issues are handled for the good of our great association.
