[GOSSIP] Beenie Man fighting for life after gunshot injuries
KINGSTON – Dancehall artiste Beenie Man is in the hospital fighting for his life after sustaining severe injuries from gunshots, local radio station reports.
According to reports, the award winning musician was shot at least twice by unknown assailants when he was driving out of his home. A lady who was with him in the car said “the assailants where not masked and could make them out”.
Beenie Man was rushed to hospital and doctors say “he is in a very critical condition”.
Beenie Man has been the talk of the town for days now after a video in which it appears that the veteran dancehall act is disrespecting fellow artiste Popcaan and his mother, ‘Miss Rhona’ hit the public domain.
Beenie Man attempted to clear the air few hours before being shot. According to the ‘Who Am I’ singer, his comments were taken out of context.
On Sunday, footage of the veteran recording artiste having a conversation with fellow entertainers Shenseea and Chris Martin in Tobago made the rounds. It shows Beenie Man making reference to Popcaan’s new smash hit single “Family”, in which the ‘Unruly Boss’ sings about ‘running a boat’, and stating: “Other day Popcaan sing a song and a seh remember when mi use to buy three sardine and one pound a rice from shop. Three sardine and one pound a rice? p***y yuh never guh a shop yet, guh s**k yuh ma…..! Three sardine and one pound a rice? a man know how much fi three sardine?” Beenie Man said.
As the clip went viral online, Popcaan took to his Instagram account to address the “King of Dancehall”.
“Moses me rate you as a icon inna music, but don’t feel like yo can style me or miss Rhona,” the ‘Family’ deejay said. “If me never respect you me woulda tell yo fi do the same to yo mother… but me see say a waste a time, and a next thing humbre (sic) you need to find a song like ‘Family’, and then yo chat.”
International recording artiste and Popcaan’s close friend, Drake, also weighed in, writing “Jump Fence” under Popcaan’s hard-hitting post.
“That him do bwoy a fish tea,” Popcaan responded.
However, Beenie Man in a subsequent post said his comments were misunderstood as, while he made reference to Popcaan’s song, he was not talking about the ‘Unruly’ deejay.
Police say it is too early to point fingers after our reporters asked if Popcaan may have a hand in this.
