[NEWS] BEYONCÉ AND GUCCI TEAM UP TO PROVIDE 120,000 WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN EAST AFRICA WITH CLEAN WATER
Beyoncé has teamed up with Gucci to provide thousands of people in the East African country of Burundi with clean water. The 36-year-old superstar singer and philanthropist made the announcement Thursday, World Water Day, on her website. The post reads:
Beyoncé’s BEYGOOD4BURUNDI, UNICEF, and now Gucci and CHIME FOR CHANGE have joined forces to help bring safe water to the most vulnerable women and children in the “Heart of Africa.” Burundi is one of the most densely populated countries in Africa with nearly half of the population lacking access to clean, safe drinking water.With your help, nearly half a million people will gain access to safe water, as BEYGOOD4BURUNDI, UNICEF, Gucci and CHIME FOR CHANGE will support building water supply systems for healthcare facilities and schools, and the drilling of boreholes, wells and springs to bring safe water to districts.The first 35 wells have now been completed, and BEYGOOD4BURUNDI is set to reach 366,000 women and children by 2020.
