Gunmen Kill Councillor, Kidnap Ekiti State Commissioner For Agriculture


Mr Folorunsho Olabode, the Ekiti State Commissioner for Agriculture, has been kidnapped in a feriocious activity that left one dead. 

A security sources uncovered that a councilor of Ilejemeje neighborhood government region of the state who was with Mr Olabode at the hour of the assault was shot dead. 


The occurrence purportedly occurred among Isan and Iludun-Ekiti. 

Muyiwa Olumilua, Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, affirmed the occurrence, saying a security group was on the path of the ruffians. 

“The Government of Ekiti State hereby confirms the abduction of the Honorable Commissioner for Agriculture, Chief Folorunso Olabode, by suspected bandits at about 7:00pm on Sunday April 26, 2020 on his way from Ado-Ekiti to his hometown in Iye-Ekiti, Ilejemeje LGA of Ekiti State,” he said.



“From initial reports, the kidnappers shot one person in his entourage, the driver of the vehicle, a serving Councillor, in the ensuing fracas.

“Governor Kayode Fayemi has mandated the security agencies in the State to ensure their prompt and safe release, while assuring residents that adequate measures are ongoing, to maintain the peace and security of the State. He promised that all perpetrators of this and any crime will be brought to book.



“The Commissioner for Police in Ekiti State, Amba Asuquo, has confirmed that a team has already been dispatched, and are on the trail of the abductors, with a view to securing their release.”

The improvement comes three days after Emmanuel Agbale, Commissioner for Science and Technology in Edo state, recovered opportunity from hijackers.

Security sources uncovered that the agitators assaulted the caravan while making a trip from Abuja to Maiduguri to go to the three-day supplication of Sheriff's late dad, Alhaji Galadima Modu, who kicked the bucket following a fire flare-up at his home in Maiduguri on Thursday.

Reports show that two of the police officers murdered are Corporal Mustapha Inusa and Corporal Abubakar Idris. 



The assault comes days after the Nigerian Defense Headquarters revealed that Abubakar Shekau, pioneer of the Boko Haram order, may before long acquiescence. 

DHQ had expressed that the non-verbal communication of Shekau after so much military hostile on the guerillas recently indicated that he would soon "quit". 



Sheriff has been blamed in certain quarters for being liable for the rise of Boko Haram in Borno State before spilling to different pieces of the North where their savage crusade has asserted a large number of lives and uprooted millions.
