Panic as Earthquake occur in Ghana.

Natural disasters are common in Africa, however, they are only limited to the likes of epidemics, drought, floods, agricultural pests and bush fires. However, a 4.0 magnitude earthquake in the nation of Ghana last night now seems to be a cause for concern.

Shaking of a moderate quake was felt in most parts of Accra on late Wednesday evening, July 24. According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake is one of the strongest earthquakes in Ghana in years.

Due to the vulnerability of many buildings in the Accra area, there was some extensive damage.

Multiple strong quakes (some even stronger than that of last night) have hit Accra in the past. Therefore more strong destructive earthquakes can be expected in the future. However, it is impossible to say when the next strong earthquake will occur

A resident of Sakaman, Accra told Earthquake Report of how much fear the incident brought:

"It felt like someone had jumped on my bed with me in the dark. I jumped off the bed then went back on because I was sleepy. Then again. This time I was angry with spirits/ghosts. By the 3rd time, I was up, walking up and down my room, saying the Lord's prayer."
"I eventually slept trusting the Lord had gotten rid of the spirits for me. It did drift past my mind, as I drifted off though, that it could have been an earthquake, lol. Scared me silly."

Residents in Accra  areas like Kasoa, Bubuashie, Dansoman, McCarthy Hill, Bortianor, Weija Tetegu, Gbawe, Aplaku, Sowutuom, Awoshie, Adenta among experience  tremors. Some residents abandon their  homes for some time to find safety for open grounds.
