Exceptional cross breed as Zebra gives birth to Zonkey after mating with a donkey
A zebra gave birth to a rare zebra donkey hybrid called ZONKEY in a Kenyan park, east Africa.
The conservation group Sheldrick Wildlife trust announced the foal's birth at the Chyulu National park in a statement on April 14.
Team members from the organization first spotted the zebra with her baby earlier this year but couldn't get a clearer look until weeks later. Un pon getting a closer glance at the baby animal the team were finally able to identify the baby animal as a zebra-donkey hybrid.
While zebra foals are born with white and brown stripes that eventually turns black, this little ones body was suspiciously light on stripes and overwhelmingly tawny in color the team explained.
The team also said a zonkey is totally unusual (hybrid between donkey and zebra) the team said since the gestation period of a zebra is 12 months the zebra must have been acquainted with a donkey before it was transferred to its current home.
