Oyo state government to return 1,800 Infested bags of rice donated by FG as palliatives

The Oyo state government says it is at present during the time spent restoring the 1800 sacks of rice the Federal government gave to the state as palliatives to pad the financial effect of the Coronavirus pandemic. 

Official Assistant to the state representative, Seyi Makinde, on Agribusiness, Dr Debo Akande, clarified that the 1,800 sacks of rice from the Federal Government were invaded with weevil and not appropriate for utilization. The sacks of rice were gotten from the state Federal government on Monday April twentieth as palliatives. 

"We got these things from the Federal Government by means of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development and we carried them to the distribution center. It was presently further review that we found that the rice had been plagued with weevils. 

On that premise, we framed a board of trustees to re-investigate it so we can make certain of what we have gotten. We would prefer not to make another issue while giving answer for another. We have examined it; we have done irregular determination and we have seen that comparable things apply in all cases.

Review that early this month, President Buhari guided the Nigeria Customs Service to discharge One hundred and Fifty trucks of rice that have been seized from bootleggers over some undefined time frame. The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development have been dispersing these packs of rice to various states which would thusly convey to poor people and vulnerabe in the general public.
